Emerging out of the pinnacle of the mid 90ies black metal movement, Eschaton have become a consistent, ever evolving force within the European extreme metal scene.
Established in 1998, the band’s first and foremost aim was to create raw and blasphemous chaos, swirling at hyper speed. This musical notion was perfectly captured on their first demo release "Deus Ex Homine”. Before their first full length album "God Mode” was released in 2004, the band secluded themselves in their rehearsal room for months, fanatically honing their musical craftsmanship, to authentically transgress their self- imposed heightened musical demands on the new material, while expressing highest intolerance against conventional stylistic borders. During this time they have forged their reputation as one of Austria’s technically most profound live acts , regularly unleashing vastly powerful and utterly authentic live performances. Being tired of the stereotypical dogmatic confinements of the genre, Eschaton eventually took their time to extend their lyrical concepts, adding a new, metaphysically and spiritually inspired dimension. The band developed a new approach to their composing, widening their musical spectrum by exploring, adapting and incorporating a number of various atypical "non- metal” elements to their sound.
The essence of this dramatic amendment has been manifested on the EP "An Instrument of Darkness”, subject for release in the fall of 2010. It yielded huge international critical acclaim by fans and press alike. The number of live appearances considerably increased as the band supported their release, headlining numerous shows at the biggest national metal stages. Channeling the very momentum of their previous accomplishments , Eschaton subsequently focused on creating innovative, diverse, yet even more powerful material. Their new, strongly anticipated follow up fulllength album "Isolated Intelligence”, which was released in March 2012, finally constitutes a paradigm-shifting audible transcendence within an euphoric symbiosis of creativity and, ultimately, art.
